Winners of their first ever Little Hawkeye Conference championship and making it to the Class 3A state semifinal, the Pella High baseball team had a quintet players named to the first team all-Little-Hawkeye-Conference for 2015. Unanimously chosen as a pitcher was Grant Judkins. The future Hawkeye led the league with an 11 – 1 record on the hill and 0.56 ERA, along with 112 strikeouts, a 0.71 WHIP, and opponents hit just .161 against him. Senior Marcus Wittmer was chosen unanimously as an infielder. Wittmer hit .370 on the season, fourth best in the conference, drove in 39 runs, second to only teammate Grant Judkins, and hit 11 doubles. Tyler Hillman was also picked unanimously to the first team as an infielder. The sophomore hit .347 for the year, drove in 26, and was second in the league with 12 doubles. Freshman Avery Van Zee made it as an outfield selection. The ninth-grader hit .318, stole 13 bases on 15 attempts, and contributed three doubles and a pair of triples to the offense. Tanner Wood was chosen to the first team as a utility player. The senior was a .324 batter this year, had an on-base percentage of .493, thanks to a league-high 27 walks, and scored 43 runs for the Little Dutch. Wood was also 6 – 1 on the mound with a 1.85 ERA. Honorable mentions went to Lucas Hileman and Landon Vander Leest.
