Little Dutch drive for a state baseball championship came to heartbreaking conclusion Friday afternoon.

Pella took a two-run lead into the 7th inning, but were unable to hang on as Harlan scored three times to defeat the Little Dutch 6-5 in the semifinals of the Class 3A State Baseball Tournament. Tanner Wood had thirteen strikeouts in six plus innings of work for Pella. Wood tells KNIA/KRLS News that despite the way the game ended, there aren’t many teams that can say they finished their season at State.

He says it was great to see the hundreds of loud Pella fans in attendance.

The top-ranked Little Dutch season ends with a record of 34 and 5. Harlan will face Waverly-Shell Rock in the Class 3A State Baseball Championship game Saturday at 5pm.
