The Pella School Board will review an early retirement program offering at their regular meeting Monday.

Superintendent Greg Ebeling says they already have a policy in place, but are considering one-time changes this school year.

“We know we are heading into a year that’s going to be very tight budget wide, and we’re going to have to make some reductions before next fiscal year–and so part of those reductions we would to hope to be able to do through attrition,” Ebeling says. “Attrition means that you actually have to have some people retire to be able to do that, and to maybe take advantage of not replacing some people.”

“We’re taking a look and changing the early retirement policy so that we can encourage some additional people to retire.”

The board will also look to formally approve their 2015-16 goals, and approve a fiber optic agreement with the City of Pella at Lincoln Elementary. The meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Pella High School media center.
