Vermeer State Fair

Local involvement at the Iowa State Fair continued on Sunday.

Former STEM Advisory Board Co-Chair and current Vermeer CEO and President Mary Andringa took part in STEM Day at the fair. She says Vermeer’s involvement in the initiative is vital to the corporation’s future.

“We need to have children and young adults very focused on some of the great careers that need STEM skills,” Andringa says. “In our business, whether someone is an engineer […] in finance, IT, also plant production–in almost every area of our production, we have a lot of math and a lot technology, which is needed.”

Andringa says the Pella School District is taking a big step in the STEM fields with the addition of the Career Academy, which will feature a Vermeer employee as a welding instructor.
