In 2014, it was the ground game that blew by defense after defense and lit up the scoreboard for the Pella High football team. Noah Clayberg and Nathan Henry are both back for their senior seasons, but Pella will be without Quinton Murphy in the triple-threat backfield they had a year ago. As players graduate and kids rise up and step into the spotlight, offensive schemes change and are centered around who the coaches send to the field. Starting this Friday, it appears the Little Dutch may incorporate a bit more of an aerial attack into their arsenal with, according to Coach Jay McKinstrey, perhaps the most depth he’s had at the receiver position during his tenure. Will Warner, Jackson Scholten, Payson Vande Lune, Ryan Van Wyk and others will fill in the slot for Pella High. Kick-off to the season is this Friday against Washington.
