Losing some talented runners, the excitement for the Pella Christian girls’ cross country team will all be about discovery this season. With a young squad out on the trails, the fun for the Eagles’ girls will be to see how much they’ll grow over the next few months. Coach Jocelyn Meinders tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it was a big loss of skill that the seniors from a year ago took with them along with their attitudes and determination in and out of competition. She adds that she does have some 11th-graders that will be slipping into the captain’s chairs that are just as worthy of the aforementioned title. Meinders adds there’s also a pair of sophomores that raced as freshmen that will bring some extra experience to an already-young squad.
