An advocacy defense organization is offering assistance to the city of Knoxville and a local veteran’s organization in a possible legal fight involving a memorial that contains a cross that’s on city property.

Attorney Robert Byron with the Liberty Institute out of Plano, TX, represents the memorial’s creator Al Larsen. He says they’ve offered help to the Knoxville VFW and the city of Knoxville, if they become involved in a legal fight with Americans United for the Separation of Church and State.

The organization sent a letter to the city demanding the memorial, depicting a soldier kneeling in front of a cross-shaped grave marker, be removed because it violated the First Amendment Establishment Clause.
