With four down-to-the-wire sets, Central’s volleyball team on Tuesday dispatched of the team that was picked to win the Iowa Conference this year, Buena Vista, 25 – 23, 22 – 25, 28 – 26, and 25 – 22. Having to contend with first team all-Conference player, Maddie Bardole, the Dutch were able to limit her to 15 kills on the night, and Central held the Beavers to just a .102 kill efficiency, while hitting .203 themselves. Emily McDonald led all players with 16 kills, Madison Egger and Regan Nelson combined for 34 assists, and Nicole Ewoldt and Tara Tralewski came up with a total of 40 digs. Central improves to 8 – 2 and they are 1 – 0 in league play. After the match, McDonald says it was a total team win, and adds that her big night was fueled by the energy of her teammates. Central’s gals are off today and will head to Grinnell to face the Pioneers on Thursday.
