It took 100 minutes, but finally somebody broke through with a goal. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the Central women’s soccer team, as they were dropped 1 – 0 in two overtimes by North Central College on Tuesday. The Dutch outshot their opponents, 23 – 16, and put just as many shots on goal, five, as North Central. Coach Mike Kobylinski tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he was still very impressed with his defense. Central’s men were on the correct side of a 1 – 0 decision against Augustana in Illinois last night. The goal came early for the Dutch; Bryce Leonard connected for the second time this season with a goal in the 20’, and goalkeeper Josh Carpenter saved five shots to earn the shutout. The men are now 2 – 2, and they’re back at home tomorrow to face Bethany Lutheran. Central’s women fall to 3 – 1 on the year, and they’ll have their first road match-up of the season on Sunday in Bloomington against Illinois Wesleyan.
