Lightning delayed the start of Pella Christian’s district opener, and their thorn-in-their-side nemesis Sigourney-Keota brought the thunder, beating the Eagles 52-35 in a game heard on KRLS2. It was a fast start after an 8 p.m. kickoff for PC, with two David Kacmarynski passing touchdowns in the first period, but it was all Cobras from there, as they outscored the Eagles 46-14 in the final three quarters. Sigourney-Keota’s Peyton Crawford racked up 357 yards and six scores. Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski says his defense started strong, but they were hurting without his son David at linebacker. Sophomore Sam Fredrickson had a big game in his fourth-ever start at tailback, with 172 yards and 2 TDs on the ground. Pella Christian falls to 2-2 overall, and 0-1 in the district heading into a road trip to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont next week.
