Gearing up for the Iowa Conference opener on Saturday in Storm Lake, Central men’s and women’s soccer teams split in a non-league game against Monmouth on Wednesday.

It took overtime, but the Dutch women got the job done, with a goal from Lauryn Kramer in the 94” to break a 0-0 tie and give Central the victory. Central had a total of 30 shots, but only the one in overtime, which proved to be the game winner. Sydney Lunardi and Savana Robinson combined for two saves, both also in extra time, and recorded the shutout. Central’s men were unfortunately shutout by Monmouth, 2 – 0. The Dutch amped up the attack in the second half, putting nine shots on goal, but couldn’t get any past stingy keeper, Chase Stroud. The women are 5 – 3, and the men are back to 3 – 6; each squad takes on Storm Lake for their IIAC 2015-16 debuts this Saturday.
