Nearly $7.3 million in community benefits were provided by Knoxville Hospital & Clinics last year.

The figure is according to an assessment by the Iowa Hospital Association that was recently released. The total includes over $645,000 in uncompensated care such as unpaid Medicaid costs, charity care, and bad debt.

Overall, hospitals statewide served 4.6 million people and provided community benefits in excess of $1.2 billion.
