The new Monday morning late start program at First United Methodist Church in Knoxville got off to a good start, according to organizer Anita Martin.

Thirty-one students were signed up for the first day of the “Monday Morning Panther” program. Martin says having children signed up prior to their arrival gives them a more accurate headcount for serving breakfast and tells them how many volunteers will be needed.

The program was started because the Knoxville Community School District decided to have two-hour late starts on Mondays for teacher work sessions.

Volunteers are still needed for the “Monday Morning Panther” program. Information on signing up or volunteering for the program is available here.
