Two local schools placed in the top five in their respective classes at the kickoff to the 2015 marching band season last weekend.

Knoxville finished fifth in Class 3A and PCM finished 2nd in Class 2A during the annual Marching Dutch Invitational in Pella. The marching Mustangs also earned top honors in the percussion and color guard categories. The Pella Marching Dutch were featured performers, but did not compete as the host school. Pella and PCM will next head to Urbandale and Knoxville will compete in Davis County on Saturday.
