Singletary Children

The community of New Sharon will showcase their support for the family of three New Sharon boys lost in a car accident last month.

Last month, Jamie, Carson, and Christian Singletary were killed in a collision at the intersection of Queens Ave and 130th Street in rural Mahaska County. Over the past month, the family has received more than $50,000 from a GoFund Me page and additional funds from donations received at US Bank in New Sharon.

Sports Page Sporting Goods in Pella has been selling “Warhawk Strong” T-Shirts since the tragedy. Store Manager Phil Hemming says they have raised nearly $10,000 for the Singletary and Hicklin family with proceeds from the shirts. Hemming says there will be a silent auction at Friday’s North Mahaska home football game. He says the following athletes with Iowa connections have contributed memorabilia or items:

Kyle Korver – Pella High graduate and Atlanta Hawks (NBA) shooting guard
Fred Hoiberg – former Ames High and Iowa State basketball star, former ISU basketball coach and current Chicago Bulls (NBA) coach
Doug McDermott – former Ames High basketball player and current Chicago Bulls (NBA) reserve
Harrison Barnes and the GS Warriors – former Ames High Basketball player and member of the 2015 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors
Devyn Marble – former Iowa basketball standout
Roy Marble – former Iowa basketball standout
Aaron White – former Iowa basketball standout
Steve Prohm – current Iowa State basketball coach
Georges Niang – Iowa State basketball forward
Naz Long – Iowa State basketball shooting guard
Monte Morris – Iowa State basketball point guard

The New Sharon crowd at the home football game will also be wearing all orange in honor of the Singletary boys.
