A Knoxville man has been sentenced to five-years probation after shooting another man in the head last October.
Judge Paul Scott issued the sentence Friday on 60-year-old Ricky Lee Hyatt. Hyatt pled guilty in July to reckless use of a firearm, a Class C felony, assault causing serious injury, a Class D felony, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon, also a Class D felony. He’d been originally charged with attempted murder and willful injury causing serious injury in case.
Hyatt must also complete a substance abuse program through Bridges of Iowa and pay $2500 in fines.
Hyatt was arrested on October 23rd at a residence on the 900 block of North Roche Street for shooting another man in the head. The victim survived the incident.
Marion County Attorney Ed Bull told KNIA/KRLS News he asked for a 20-year prison term, but that sentence was suspended.
