Winners of eight of their last nine contests, the Pella High volleyball team appears to have turned the corner and have their sights set on more than just a possible Little Hawkeye Conference title, but perhaps even a berth in the Class 4A state tournament. The Lady Dutch went 4 – 1 at the Ballard tournament, and have defeated Dallas Center – Grimes, Grinnell, and Pella Christian thus far. Pella has two hitters in the top ten in the conference in number of kills: Emily Holterhaus and Makenna Bogaard. Coach Catie Brand has had several girls switching between different positions, and that flexibility, combined with the balance of multiple strong players, is something that has been a big strength for the team. The Lady Dutch will play their penultimate tournament of the 2015 season this Saturday in Newton before gearing up for a Top-15 battle against Norwalk next Tuesday.
