It simply was not the Knoxville Panthers night on Friday night in a 21-7 loss to Chariton as heard on KNIA. The two teams played to a stalemate in the first half tied at seven after Ben Olsen made a diving grab in the end zone to knot the score at all sevens in the second quarter after a Charger score. However, it was all Chariton in the second half as the Chargers put up 14 unanswered points to pull away. Coach Eric Kellar told KNIA/KRLS defense once again kept his team within reach. Knoxville’s ground attack never got going consistently and was led by Carter Bailey’s 35 yards on 11 carries. Knoxville is now 2-2 on the season and will host Pella for the class 3A district seven opener next Friday.
