The Pleasantville Trojans once again relied on their stingy defense to carry them to victory over the Broncos of Belmond-Klemme 27-6 last Wednesday.
The Trojans gave up more than ten points only once this season, a 24-14 loss to district rival Mount Ayr, and in their nine victories gave up only a total of four touchdowns. The Trojans are once again led in tackles for the second straight year by middle linebacker Sawyer Phillips who has an astounding 90, more than double the next closest players. Many players have bought in to the aggressive style of Pleasantville Head Coach Gabe Bakker, wreaking havoc on opposing offenses and compelling the Trojans defense to contribute five defensive touchdowns. Pleasantville will have to rely on that defense if they want to continue their playoff run against Gladbrook-Reinbeck this coming Monday. The game can be heard live on KNIAKRLS.com via the KNIA3 stream with Andrew Swadner and Ron Danks on the call, beginning their broadcast at 6:30 and kickoff is scheduled for 7.
