An investigation by the Office of the Inspector General United States Post Office has led to a felony charge filed against a Lovilia woman accused of taking money.

45-year-old Tammy Sue Burk has been charged with 2nd degree theft, a Class D felony.

According to court documents, Burk told investigators in a written statement that she would intentionally not report the sale of postage and keep the money for herself while working for the Tracy and Harvey Post Offices. Investigators determined Burk deprived the U.S. Postal Service of $1546.47 between March and July of this year.

Burk has pled not guilty to the charge.
