A fury of a finish down the stretch allowed the No. 25-ranked Central wrestling team to escape with a 23-15 victory over No. 30 Augustana yesterday. Freshman 184-pounder, Austin Laabs, trailed his nationally ranked Viking opponent, 7-1, with around a minute left, before rallying for a pair of takedowns and a near fall to win, 9-7. The comeback helped the Dutch, who were trailing in the dual, also mount a surge of their own to clip upset-minded Augustana. Central’s dual meet record is now evened up at 1-1, and they’ll split the squad up this Saturday for a pair of invitationals; some will go to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and others go to Storm Lake for the Buena Vista Open.
