Bowers, Melinda Dawn

A Russell woman received one year probation to charges that were filed after she fled the scene of an accident she had while driving a stolen vehicle in Marion County.

24-year-old Melinda Dawn Bowers pled guilty to operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, interference with official acts, driving while suspended, failure to report an accident, and failure to obey a stop sign.

According to court documents, Marion County deputies responded to a call of a vehicle collision on December 23rd at the intersection of Highways 92 and T-17 near Harvey. They determined the vehicle, a tan 2007 Ford Taurus, had been reported stolen out of Centerville two days earlier.

Bowers fled the scene after police were contacted, but was captured a short time later.

Bowers is also facing felony charges for burglary and theft after a February arrest in Monroe County.
