The Dubuque swing begins the work week for the Central basketball teams tonight when they stay at home to face the Spartans for an Iowa Conference twin-bill. Central’s women were within striking distance of league-leading and No. 16-ranked Wartburg on Saturday, before sputtering in the end to the powerful Knights. Both the Dutch and Dubuque went 0 – 2 in their league debuts last week, and both to Wartburg and Luther. For Coach Chelsea Petersen, tonight comes down to going with the game plan and shutting down the heavy hitters for the Spartans. Emily Brinker and Abbey Meyer combine for over 31 points per game, or nearly half of the team’s average point total this season. Speaking of stars, the Central men will have to contend with reigning league MVP, Andre Norris, who comes in averaging 23 points and 13 rebounds per game. Tonight’s women’s contest tips things off first at 6:00 p.m. inside of the P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium.
