Loras completes the Dubuque swing for the Central women’s and men’s basketball teams this afternoon as the Duhawks enter town for a conference doubleheader. The Dutch swept Dubuque on Wednesday, and are hoping to keep the good times rolling against a pair of 2 – 1 Loras teams. The Duhawks’ women are coming off of a loss to Simpson on Wednesday, 81 – 53, but are averaging close to 67 points per game, while the Dutch are only putting in roughly 57 themselves. Coach Chelsea Petersen says there’s not a lot of controlling you can do on offense, but her team can manage the amount of effort they put in to prevent the other team from scoring. Men’s coach, Craig Douma, calls today’s game “a dangerous one” for his Dutch. Loras is one of the five teams that are sitting with a 2 – 1 record, but have three players at least 6’6” in height. Douma tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that he wants to see his team make fewer mistakes with the basketball today. You can hear the doubleheader inside of P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium live on 92.1 KRLS, KNIAKRLS.com, and via our free mobile app. Cory Houser and Jacob Dreyer will have the pre-game show starting at 1:45 p.m. with tip-off of the women’s game at 2:00.
