The Knoxville City Council is considering replacing Knox, the police dog who retired last fall.

Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada recently presented a number of police dog options to the city council. Chief Losada says in his opinion the best option for Knoxville is considered a dual-purpose dog — one that has been trained both for patrol and narcotics detection. The approximately $15,000 needed to obtain the dog is already in the budget, as is the $30,000 for a specially configured police car.
