It was a classic back yard brawl in the South Central Conference that had to take an extra four minutes to decide the winner between Knoxville and Chariton in boys basketball Saturday and Chariton had just enough to take the game in the extra session 62-61. The Panthers withstood multiple runs from the Chargers that would put Chariton up by eight on numerous occasions. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS Sports the guys did nearly did everything to knock off the number four team in class 3A. Blake McClung scored 15 points to lead Knoxville who drop to 8-5 on the season and 8-2 in the South Central Conference. On the girls side, Knoxville took control of a close game in the third quarter to beat the Chargers 50-44. Ricki Hall scored 14 points to lead Knoxville. The Panthers are now 11-4 on the season and 9-1 in the conference. The Panthers will host Eddyville-Blakesburg on Tuesday.
