Playing their third game in five days, the Pella High girls’ and boys’ basketball teams journey northwest to Adel tonight to face A-D-M in a non-conference doubleheader. The Lady and Little Dutch both blew out PCM on Saturday by wide margins, but the same story was not true the last time the Dutch played the Tigers on the road. Pella’s girls dropped a one-point decision late, with Katie Vander Molen, Ciara Buchheit, and Kiara Bradley all playing as freshmen. They have won nine straight, however, and have only allowed more than 50 points twice during that stretch. A-D-M just lambasted Bondurant-Farrar by 48 points on Friday, and Coach Jerod Garland says his team can’t take the Tigers lightly.
On the boys’ side, the Little Dutch won a nail-biter in this gym two years ago by three points, but enter with much more confidence; they’ve scored at least 80 points in five of their last seven games. Pella has outscored their last two opponents by a combined 174 – 94. Coach Mark Core would like to see his young men get incrementally better in various areas tonight.
Tonight’s doubleheader will be streamed live on KNIAKRLS.com and on our free mobile app. Cory Houser, Brian Vande Lune, and Mike Buchheit have the play-by-play starting at 6:00 p.m. There will be a delayed broadcast on 92.1 KRLS immediately following the Pella Christian doubleheader.
