John Followill

A Knoxville man is in custody following an arrest in Pella Tuesday.

That afternoon, Detective Reed Kious with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, received a call from an individual stating that John Duane Followill, Jr was at a residence in Pella. Followill was wanted out of Marion County on Parole violations. Detective Kious was able to make contact with Pella Detective Justin Bailey, with the Pella Police to set up surveillance.

Detective Bailey kept an eye on the residence and vehicle that Followill was supposedly using until more Pella officers, Mid Iowa Narcotics Task Force members and Marion County cars could respond.

After entering the residence, Followill was found hiding in the attic by Pella Lt. Paul Hasse and Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt.

Commands were given to Followill to exit the attic, and he complied and was taken into custody without incident.

“The Pella Police Officers, Task Force Members, and Marion County Deputies worked great together to bring this to a peaceful resolution. We all have the same goal of getting criminals off of the streets and that’s exactly what happened here,” Sandholdt said in a statement.

Followill is being held at the Marion County Jail without bond. A probation violation hearing will be held on February 2nd, stemming back to charges he pled guilty to in 2014.
