The PCM Boys basketball team picked up an important conference win at Nevada last night, surviving a late fourth quarter surge to win 61-51. The girls fell to the defending state champion Cubs 57-17.

The Mustang boys got off to a hot shooting start with senior forward Austin Brown scoring 10 first half points en route to a 24-19 halftime lead. The second half saw the Cubs charge to take the lead in the fourth with PCM star forward Logan Gilman held to five points and picked up his fourth foul but PCM head coach trusted his senior and kept him in the game, and Gilman delivered hitting three 3-point baskets in the final 90 seconds on his way to 23 total points, and put the Cubs away.
PCM Head Coach Fred Lorenson told KNIA/KRLS Sports he was happy with the conference win, but there are still things his team needs to work on. The girls had a tough time with the halfcourt trap defense Nevada employed and too many turnovers eventually lead to a 31-3 halftime deficit. The girls fall to 6-4, while the boys improve their record to 7-2. Both squads will the the court again this Friday at home against Gilbert.
