A road trip to Albia was not kind of both Pleasantville Trojan Basketball squads; the girls would not go away against the strong Lady Dee’s but would fall 67-54 and the boys could not overcome the hot shooting from the Blue Demons and were defeated 80-71.

The girls were looking to end their current losing skid but ran into a buzz saw in the form of sophomore guard Hannah Isley who would drop an Albia school record 40 points. The Trojans once again got solid efforts from Kelsee Van Haalen with 16 points and Bailey Oliva with 11 points. Head Coach Aaron Fichter said that despite the recent streak of losses, he is proud of the way his team continues to fight.

The boys were forced into an early deficit due to the Blue Demons hot shooting from outside that included hitting 10 shots from beyond the arc and would never recover despite 25 points from Brady Elder. The Trojans only allowed four Albia players to score, those four players however all scored 16 points or more and were led by senior forward Blake Beyer with 26 points. The matchup was a potential postseason matchup for both of these teams, as they are each fighting for a top seed in district 12. Head Coach Joel Allman said that this game was a barometer for where his squad will be come postseason time.

The girls fall to 3-10 and the boys to 8-4, but neither squad will have time to mull over the loss as both will play again tonight at home against Wayne.
