Depth a little bit of an issue at the beginning of the season for the Pella Christian boys’ basketball team, the Eagles have since seen growth in quite a few of their varsity athletes. Jeremy Van Beek put in 14 points versus Pella High on Friday, going 7-for-7 from the field; Scott Haveman has been spelling Mitch Fopma to give him a breather at times, and one of the two sophomores, Kade Vander Molen, also has thrived lately in and out of practice, which has earned him some varsity playing time. Coach Larry Hessing says he’s used the time in the spotlight wisely. The 8 – 8 Eagles will try to break a four-game losing streak tomorrow night at home versus Knoxville.
