The Marion County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday.

They received a request from the Marion County Librarians to increase funding by $5,000 to be distributed by population served across the county libraries. If granted, county funding for the libraries will be $45,733, the first increase since 2007. The item was taken under consideration. The board approved increasing general assistance guidelines to 133% of the poverty level, in compliance with the Federal guidelines. General discussion of the budget also occurred, with budget pressures identified as a result of increasing arrests and prosecutions by law enforcement in the county.
