The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in special session Wednesday.

They received an update from Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian regarding the Secondary Roads Budget. Christian shared that the recently passed statewide road use tax increase had accomplished what it had intended, as the department received an additional $600,000 in funds this year, a 20% increase over last year’s budget. Also, an additional $200,000 was received from the farm to market fund, a 20% increase over last year. He adds that both maintenance and new construction efforts will become more aggressive, and that construction planned in 2018 will most likely be completed a year early.
