Katy-Did’s General Store in Bussey may be forced to close.
The store was owned by Kathy Evans, who died three years ago after a battle with cancer. Daughter Candy Evans, who took over the store, tells KNIA/KRLS News that the store building and her home are facing foreclosure because of her mother’s medical bills. Approximately $100,000 is still owed. Kathy Evans had no insurance, and when she passed away the store and home were in her name. The people of Bussey rely on the store for many things, and area residents would be forced to drive to Pella, Oskaloosa, Knoxville, or Albia for those items should the store close.
