The Pella City Council has been working on details for the upcoming fiscal year budget.
City of Pella Finance Director Corey Goodenow says more than 35% of the money will be spent on capital improvements, including the next major phase in the city’s long term water supply plan.
Goodenow says two major street corridor projects will take place along Oskaloosa and Washington Streets, with construction beginning after Tulip Time this year. The city also plans to complete the brunt of replacing most street lights in the community with LED bulbs to save the city thousands on bills moving forward.
A public hearing will be held at the council’s March 1st meeting to review the final budget for fiscal year 2017.
