Their regular-season ending loss to Dubuque knocking them all the way down to the fifth seed, the Central men’s basketball team will have to make another trip through Dubuque in order to reach the tournament championship game this season. First stop will be at Loras tonight, whom the Dutch swept the season series from. It was a 72 – 61 triumph their first meet-up in Pella, while Central needed late heroics last Wednesday to escape with an 87 – 81 win. However, their confidence shooting the basketball may be a bit shaken after making just four shots from outside the arc against Dubuque on Saturday. Central had scored a combined 118 points in the second halves of their games against Wartburg and the Duhawks prior, but managed just 57 total versus the league-leading Spartans. Coach Craig Douma says it’s a benefit having just played Loras when it comes to preparing for their third match-up against them. Tonight’s game in Dubuque is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. The winner will face the No. 1-seeded Spartans on Thursday in the tournament semifinals.
