Sprinting out to a 23 – 2 lead after one quarter, the Pella Christian girls’ basketball team had the game in hand from the opening tip with a 58 – 15 thumping of North Mahaska on Saturday, in the opening round of the Class 2A regional tournament. The Eagles’ defense did not allow a single Warhawk shot until about the three minute mark of the first quarter, and they forced over 20 turnovers for the half. Cailey Terpstra led all scorers with 14, and Isabella Baugh dumped in 13 herself; they were the two leading scorers among 11 total Eagles who found the scoring column. The Eagles improve to 8 – 14 on the year, and next will play at Van Meter in the quarterfinal round this Tuesday.
