Many local schools earned high ratings in the Iowa High School Music Association Jazz Band contest.

Both Pella Jazz 1 and 2 earned Division I “Superior” Ratings at their home auditorium. Knoxville earned a Division II “Excellent” in Class 3A. North Mahaska earned a Division I in Class 1A.
