Despite being overmatched in their last game of the season at home against the Pella Christian Eagles in a 66-28 defeat, the Trojan Boys Basketball Team can look at many positives from this past season.

Adjusting to a new system under a new head coach, and only bringing back four major contributors from last season’s squad that made a run to the district final had some growing pains. The squad switched from playing mainly zone defense to a full court man to man press that utilized the teams athletic prowess, as well as begin to rely on junior point guard Brady Elder to provide the bulk of the scoring.

The team will say goodbye to a crop of contributing seniors in Scout Van Haalen, Booker Beier, Brady McMains and Zeb Adreon and the team will certainly miss the athleticism and experience that they brought to the squad, but there are plenty of building blocks for the budding program. Elder will return, along with starting center Mac Harken, while the team looks for bench players Gauge Van Haalen, big man Devon Dursky, and Owen Worthington to have much larger roles on next years team. Growing pains aside, the Trojans can look back on this season as a big success and a springboard for the future.
