Pella Regional Health Center and Knoxville Hospital and Clinics have a combined $49 million dollar impact on the local economy, according to the latest study by the Iowa Hospital Association.

The study examined the jobs, income, retail sales and sales tax produced by hospitals and the rest of the state’s health care sector, and was compiled from hospital-submitted data on the American Hospital Association’s Annual Survey of Hospitals.

Other medical facilities in the county weren’t identified or included in the above total, but were in additional data provided in the survey. Overall, the medical field has a $112 million impact on Marion County.
