Advancing six wrestlers past sectionals, and advancing four wrestles to the State competition on Thursday is only a part of a season long goal for the Pleasantville Trojan wrestling team.

The theme the entire year has been to improve every single week and peak during postseason, and the Trojans are well into completing that goal. The Trojan wrestlers who made it to the state competition, Griffin McBride, Sawyer Phillips, Chaz Clark and Will Anthony have only a combined 21 losses between them and an astonishing 135 wins but have recieved no accolades from state wrestling publications. No Trojan wrestler is currently ranked at any weight class, and although some have flirted in and out of rankings so far this season it doesn’t mean much to them, Coach Heath DeForest tells KNIAKRLS sports that his guys have worked as hard as they can and though it will be tough he knows his grapplers can succeed. The State Meet will get underway Thursday, with the first Trojan wrestlers hitting the mats at 9am.
