In the nightcap of the doubleheader, the Pella Christian boys’ basketball team will host the opening round of the Class 2A district tournament with a game against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. The Eagles finished the regular season with a four-game winning streak, capped off by an impressive win over previously-unbeaten Grand View Christian on Friday night, 55 – 49. The Rockets come into play with a mark of 6 – 15, after losing the regular season finale to Martensdale – St. Mary’s on Thursday. Rebounding will be a focus in Monday night’s contest; the Rockets average over 30 rebounds per game, while Pella Christian grabs close to 25, though they will have the edge height-wise with 6’6” senior, Kenden Veenstra in the post. Monday’s playoff opener for the Eagles can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS, KNIAKRLS.com, and via our free mobile app. Pre-game coverage is slated to start at 7:40 p.m. with tip-off scheduled for 8:00.
