Round two of regional play was not kind to the PCM Lady Mustang Basketball team last night as they fell to the Chargers of Chariton 50-40 in Monroe.

A common saying in basketball is that it is a game of runs, and last night was no different as the teams would trade the lead back and forth with four total 8-0 runs throughout the game. Foul trouble would plague the Mustangs, as in the fourth quarter with the Mustangs nursing a two point lead Katie VandeWall would foul out followed quickly by Jayce Vos fouling out. Without their main rebounding, defensive and ball handling options on the court the Mustangs could not stop the Chargers late in the fourth. PCM Head Coach Jeff Lindsay tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that this team has a bright future ahead of them despite the loss. The Mustangs end their season with a 13-10 record in Coach Lindsay’s first season with the program, and the team will say goodbye to two seniors Karina VanDyke and Emily Hugen but will bring seven juniors with varsity experience into next year’s squad. A full recap of the Mustangs season can be heard on the Knoxville Hyvee Radio Coaches Corner in the coming weeks.
