Despite scoring roughly one-fifth the number of points he had against Grinnell the first time around, Levi Jungling and the Pella Christian boys’ basketball team emerged victorious over the Tigers last night, 64 – 56, in the capper of a doubleheader that was live on 92.1 KRLS. Jungling had 42 in the first go-around, but was held to just nine points, mainly due to early foul trouble in the opening half. Never fear, the rest of the Eagles were there to save the day; nine total players ended up scoring, led by Alex Pringle’s 12, Jeremy Beek’s ten, and Caleb Roose and Mitch Fopma’s eight apiece. Coach Larry Hessing said, after his team’s first conference win since mid-December, the guys reacted appropriately in the locker room. It was slow going for the Eagles’ girls as they were dropped by Grinnell, 63 – 30. Morgan Fopma scored a team-high 12 points off the bench, and Isabella Baugh put in ten points and grabbed 15 rebounds. The Eagle boys improve to 10 – 9, the girls are now 7 – 13; both teams conclude the conference schedule tomorrow night at Dallas Center – Grimes.
