The Pella City Council is beginning the Fiscal Year 2017 budgeting process next week.

Before they start with deliberations, they received a brief overview of projects at Policy and Planning following the regular council meeting Tuesday. City Administrator Mike Nardini says the capital projects in the upcoming fiscal year, which begins July 1st, will be heavy on infrastructure.

Nardini says the emphasis on roads, water, and electricity will likely push the city’s budget to over $47 million. However, Nardini adds the council still plans to maintain the same property tax rate they have had for 15 years.

Two meetings will be held with city departments on Monday and Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Pella Public Safety Complex on Liberty Street.
