For the 16th straight doubleheader, the Pella High boys’ and girls’ basketball teams came away winners on the same night, this time in Oskaloosa on Friday night. The Lady Dutch came out making their first 11 baskets from the field in a 67 – 19 blowout of the Indians. Kiara Bradley had 13 first-quarter points and finished with 17, Katie Vander Molen scored ten, and three other players wound up with eight. Coach Jerod Garland says his team came out and did what they’ve done all season long. Pella also held the Indians scoreless in the third quarter and to just six fourth-quarter tallies. The Lady Dutch finish the regular season with a 19 – 2 record, and they’ll play either Newton or Bondurant-Farrar in the Tulip City in the regional semifinals next Saturday. Pella’s boys overcame some early offensive frustrations and nine charging calls to win, 77 – 57. A total of 11 different players found the scoring column, led by Payson Vande Lune’s 14. The Little Dutch are now 19 – 1, and they have one last regular season affair to go, and that’s Tuesday at Centerville.
