Despite a sloppy first half in which the high flying Trojan boys only scored 24 points, the Pleasantville Trojan Boys Basketball squad would celebrate a victory over conference rival Mount Ayr last night 56-52. The girls would fall 68-39 to the Raiderettes.

The Raiders of Mount Ayr would slow down the game and force the Trojans to play at their pace, dropping back into a tough 2-3 zone defense that forced the Trojans to shoot from outside to carry them. Brady Elder would score 24 in the win, including 9-12 from the charity stripe, while Zeb Adreon scored 10. Head Coach Joel Allman said that his boys didn’t have the cleanest game, but the mark of a good team is that they win even on down nights for the team. The Trojans improve to 12-5. The girls would have a rough time defending junior forward Kelcie Shields for the Raiderettes, as she would drop 24 points in half number one. The Trojans would stick within six points at 27-21 in the 2nd quarter, but foul trouble would force Trojan forward Bailey Oliva to the bench and that is when Shields would take over, advancing the Mount Ayr lead to 36-21 at half. The Trojans would limit Shields to only six second half points, but the damage was already done. Oliva would lead the team with 13 points and Kelsee Van Haalen scored 11, and the Trojans fall to 5-13.
