A man wanted in three counties was apprehended by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the MINE Task Force, and the Iowa State Patrol on Monday afternoon at approximately 1:30PM.

Sheriff Jason Sandholdt tells KNIA KRLS News that Chief Deputy Troy Fisher was conducting a routine traffic stop near Flagler when Taylor Wayne Jones of the Eddyville area exited the vehicle, struggled with Chief Deputy Fisher, where Jones lost his shirt and sweatshirt in the struggle, and fled into a wooded area. Deputies and task force members arrived on scene and set up a perimeter west of the traffic stop. Sheriff Sandholdt and Trooper Matt Struecker (stricker) started tracking Jones. They were able to apprehend him after a 30 minute foot chase. Knoxville Fire and Rescue checked out Jones for exposure on scene. Jones is wanted in three counties for multiple charges, including drug charges and interference with official acts. He is currently being held in the Marion County Jail on the multiple warrants. Deputy Fisher suffered minor injuries to his hand.

Possession controlled substance methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Current charges interference with official acts and assault on a peace officer.

Wapello County

Parole Violation — original charge possession of methamphetamine

Monroe County
