Golfing in Jekyll-and-Hyde-like weather, the young Central men’s golf team still put up some good scores in their spring-season opening tourney in Missouri last weekend. They had an individual leader after Day 1, and Central was one of the few teams that shaved strokes off in Day 2, with most of the rest of the field struggling because of the rain that lasted for nearly the whole round. Jared Nepomuceno had the day’s best round on Saturday and finished tied for seventh. The freshmen also looked strong, and Coach Chad Green knows there will be growing pains with his “green” group of guys, but feels they are prepared thanks to the facilities on and off-campus. He says the team is ready to head to Illinois this weekend to show what they learned from 2016’s first tournament. The Dutch head to Normal, Illinois for the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
