Numbers are not high for the Knoxville Girls Track and Field Squad this season, but the ladies that greeted Coach Brad McWilliams at the first day of practice this week, for the most part, have a lot to offer. Three seniors will lead the program this year. Mesa Waits, Carrie Chambers, and Sydney Washington are the trio of 12th graders that McWilliams tells KNIA/KRLS Sports two of those seniors are returning state qualifiers from 2014. Chambers was a qualifier in some relays and as an individual in the 400 hurdles last year, while Washington was a qualifier on several relay events. McWilliams adds some of the younger runners and jumper are back from last season including Kendrea Richardson, who placed fourth in the 200 at the State Meet last year as a freshman, and Kayla Moats, also a ninth grader last year qualified for the high jump. The Panthers’ season gets underway at the Clarke Invitational on March 31st.
